Past is past and it cannot be changed! However, it can be kept alive in our memory by using the gramatical tense that will always take us back in time. So who said that time travel is impossible?! As you can see grammar makes impossible things possible 🙂
English can take you back in various ways. It can link past and persent with the help of Present Pefect or to show how a past aciton is still going on in the Present with the help of Present Perfect Continuous.
It can detach you from present and leave you at a definite moment in the past with the help of Past Tense. Or it can recall an ongoing action from the past with the help of Past Continuous.
